Knee Scooter Project
Our task was to create a knee scooter to assist one of our team members in the event that they were injured. We designed our scooter for our team member, Zoey. As a commuter student, she needed a scooter that could collapse to fit into her car. We designed the scooter to withstand being thrown around in a trunk as well as ordinary ride use and overloaded cases.
We created the design in Solidworks and conducted FEA, hand calculations, and deflection measurements to validate our design. The scooter is primarily constructed from welded steel tube. Given the material’s strength, we determined that the stress on our axels was negligible for our load cases as well as those on the steering column collar.
